Suck My Deformity

Suck My Deformity

Suck My Deformity formed in the summer of 2008 having met at the Thurrock Mind centre which is a drop in centre for people with mental health problems. Initially we went to a rehearsal room to jam and see how things went after this was suggested by Tony the drummer having noiticed the amount of musicians who attended the centre. There were two line up changes early on and we count ourselves lucky that the current 4-piece line up work so well together as a unit and don’t argue too much or tell each other what to play. Mental health issues find their way into our lyrics a lot and musically we have a diverse range of influences which lead us to incorporating a lot of different styles into our songs. Our first album “Unlimited Power” is nearly ready and should be available at the festival.

Lee Bowers

Lee Bowers of Suck My Deformity is also an acoustic singer songwriter with an exciting sound from Grays in Essex. His unique guitar style has been described as “reminiscent of Sonic Youth minus the scraggier edges” and “a cross between the Smashing Pumpkins and Led Zeppelin 3″. A lot of Lee’s early songs spoke of mental health issues and they have been described as “frank life lessons” although there is now a lot more variety in what he sings about and he often writes instrumental tracks. Lee has recently collaborated on two songs with Muddy Summers and the Dirty Field Whores, both of which are free to download from soundcloud and who are appearing at the Something Else Tea Tent.
